TFPC Member Kimberly Montgomery Rawlings in the News!

Montgomery`s Restaurant is a place where Canadian food ingredients shine.

The Toronto Food Policy Council is lucky to have Kimberly Montgomery Rawlings as a council member. Kim is the co-founder and co-owner of Montgomery`s Restaurant along with her husband, Guy Rawlings (pictured above). The duo goes to great lengths to keep their ingredients Canadian, including growing them on their rooftop garden!

“The restaurant has sourced only Canadian meat, seafood and vegetables since Rawlings and his wife-business partner Kim Montgomery opened at Queen St. W. and Ossington Ave. in 2016. This past January, they decided to take their local-fare-only philosophy one step further. Rawlings packed up all of the restaurant’s non-Canadian-grown spices — cinnamon, star anise and black pepper — into a storage bin and gave it away — giving the chef the room to get creative and find local replacements.”

Montgomery`s is a beautiful example of local and sustainably-sourced cuisine and what can happen when food activism is at the forefront of your business model.
