Farmers for Climate Solutions

“agriculture is one of the most promising sectors for delivering fast and effective climate solutions”

On February 11, on National Agriculture Day, a new program was launched by the National Farmers Union called Farmers for Climate Solutions. The program will actively engage farmers in reducing Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions by encouraging sustainable and regenerative farming practices.

According to the recent National Farmers Union report, the agriculture sector contributes 12 per cent of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions. We cannot address climate change without addressing agricultural practices. Farmers play a critical role in creating a resilient food system, enhancing soil health and improving farmer livelihoods. Many farmers have already turned to more sustainable forms of farming and are seeing positive results.
