Urban Agriculture Indicators

The Toronto Urban Growers have recently released a report on urban agriculture indicators for Toronto. These indicators form the basis for how urban agriculture activity can be measured and tracked in a Toronto specific context. The indicators outline ways to measure the social, economic, health, and environmental benefits of growing food in the city. The report was developed with support from Toronto Public Health and involved interviews and consultation with some key organizations and individuals managing urban agriculture projects. If organizations like TUG and the TFPC are to make a strong case for investing more resources into urban agriculture and developing enabling policies, it’s important to have reliable and compelling data that show the positive impacts urban agriculture can have.
