Food Waste

The issue of food waste is increasingly recognized globally as it impacts the environment and the
economy and is socially tied to issues of food insecurity.

TFPC members have identified food waste as a priority issue. The TFPC is interested in a food system’s
approach to food waste that incorporates reduction and diversion initiatives and takes into
consideration the benefits of closed loop nutrient recycling and promotes urban metabolism.
