FoodShare’s Teachings from the Land: A Cross Cultural Food Justice Program

An exciting opportunity for youth 17-29 years old!

Teachings from the Land: A Cross Cultural Food Justice Program hosted by the Indigenous Food Access Program at FoodShare is a series of sessions running from the end of June to September 2018.

These sessions include cultural teachings, traditional foods and cooking, food justice, harvesting, Indigenous history walking tours, Anti- oppression & Anti-racism training. This amazing program will bring in Indigenous leaders and Elders to facilitate and take part in these sessions. Limited spots are available and registration ends June 25th! Program Dates:

  • June: 29th (6-9pm), 30th (10-5pm)
  • July: 9th (6-9pm), 13th (6-9pm), 14th (1-5pm), + 18th (6-9pm)
  • August: 8th (6-9pm), 16th (6-9pm), 24th (6-9pm) + 25th (10-5pm), 29th (6-9pm)
  • September: 7th (6-9pm), 8th (10- 5pm), 17th (6-9pm) + 27th (6-9pm)

FoodShare’s Indigenous Food Access Program works in solidarity with indigenous communities to address food insecurity and colonialism in our food system by supporting distribution of fresh produce in Northern communities, leading land based teachings for youth, hosting Indigenous food sovereignty gatherings, and working with Indigenous advisory circles.
