Action Canada Fellowship Meet-Up

TFPC members were invited to meet with Action Canada Fellows recently to talk about food security, the work of the TFPC, and other initiatives. The Action Canada Fellowship is a public policy leadership program for emerging leaders across Canada. Their theme this year is the ‘Future of Food’. The fellows have been crossing the country (Ottawa, Saskatoon, Montreal) learning about the current food system, and what future developments will have an impact on our lives. TFPC chair Rachel Gray, member Andrea Boucaud (Peachtree) and coordinator Lori Stahlbrand all spoke about how the TFPC and its members work to address food insecurity, and how food can be a lever to making cities better places for everyone. Nadia Ahmed, director of the Barakah Box, a culturally safe food bank in the Hamilton area, also joined the conversation.

The Action Canada Fellows lunch took place at Hawthorne Food and Drink, a social enterprise of the Hospitality Workers Training Centre, that trains people with barriers to employment for jobs in the hospitality industry.
