TFPC Meeting: Wednesday May 8th from 2:00pm-5:00pm – Public Health Budget Cuts, Climate Change Action Plan and More!

The next Toronto Food Policy Council meeting is an especially important one and everyone is invited!

The Ontario government has recently announced significant cuts to public health funding and major restructuring of the public health system in this province. The Toronto Food Policy Council is a citizen subcommittee that advises the Toronto Board of Health. The second half of the next TFPC meeting, starting at 3:45 pm, will be devoted to discussing what these cuts mean, and the TFPC’s response.

Speakers include Councillor Joe Cressy, Chair of the Board of Health, and Dr. Eileen de Villa, Medical Officer of Health for Toronto, or her representative.

AS ALWAYS, MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ARE INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.

But there are other important items on the agenda as well! This will be the first TFPC meeting since a dynamic group of new members joined the Council. Come out to meet them!

Also, in the first half of the meeting, there will be a presentation from the City’s Energy and Environment Division (EED) on the Climate Change Action Plan, TransformTO. The plan is being revamped to include food for the first time. Come to hear about the plan and give your input!
