Growing the City
Join us at Growing the City, a reception to launch the GrowTO Urban Agriculture Action Plan with celebrated urban farmer Will Allen.
Thursday, August 16th, 6:30 – 8:00 pm.
Toronto City Hall Rotunda, 100 Queen Street West.
This August 15-18th, Toronto is hosting the first International Urban Agriculture Summit. At the Summit over 500 delegates from Toronto and beyond will come together to explore urban agriculture’s current role and future potential in 21st century city-building.
The Summit coincides with the launch of the GrowTO Action Plan that outlines priorities for scaling up urban agriculture in the City of Toronto. The Action Plan has engaged urban farmers, community agencies and institutions, and City Divisions to develop a vision for how urban agriculture supports economic development, green infrastructure and healthy communities.
Hosted by the Toronto Food Policy Council, the August 16th reception at City Hall is a public celebration of green ideas and innovations, and will serve to put Toronto on the map as a leader in urban agriculture and sustainable city-building.
We are thrilled that Will Allen of Growing Power in the United States will speak and be available to sign his new book “The Good Food Revolution,” along with the authors of other recent urban agriculture books.
This free event is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
