On March 13th, 2018,  the World Bank held a panel discussion on urban food governance at its headquarters in Washington, DC. Lori Stahlbrand (Health Policy Specialist responsible for the TFPC) was one of the panelists.

The World Bank is in the early stages of determining how it can support a growing number of cities throughout the World that are engaging in urban food issues. The Agriculture Global Practice of the World Bank brought together several experts on urban governance from a small group of leading cities in North and South America. Of course, Lori spoke about the work of the Toronto Food Policy Council (TFPC), which was the first food policy council in a major city when it was established in 1991.

In preparation for thinking about these issues, the World Bank recently completed this report, entitled “Food Systems for an Urbanized World“.
