Food Share: School Grown Assistant
School Grown is a schoolyard farming social enterprise that provides paid jobs and school credit to high school youth. We grow at Burhamthorpe CI and Eastdale CI. Each summer we employ 10 to 12 high school students – they spend their summer seeding, weeding, harvesting, selling at the farmers market and participating in weekly workshops about cooking, food justice and anti-oppression. The School Grown Assistant will work alongside the School Grown Farm Coordinator, supporting the maintenance of our school-based market garden and orchard.

The Stop Community Food Centre uses food and food access as a tool for community development in the Davenport West and Wychwood Heights neighbourhoods of Toronto. Among other programs, The Stop runs emergency food programming at our 1884 Davenport Road site, as well as an outdoor bake oven and Good Food Market. Urban Agriculture Coordinator
The Urban Agriculture Coordinator will focus on supporting community members in growing food at three community food-growing spaces, centred on the development and sustaining of the Milky Way Urban Agriculture and Community Hub. The Coordinator will work with community members and leaders on weekly programming and workshops. This includes facilitation of workshops, training, volunteers and participants in sustainable food growing practices. The ideal candidate will have skills in community development, facilitation, working with youth, seed saving, composting, food growing, harvesting – with market garden skills as an asset.
